Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Legacy Fund

Harrogate Brigantes Rotary is part of the worldwide family of Rotary Clubs whose motto is ‘Service Above Self’. We are now in our 47^th year and have established a reputation for “Making a Difference” in the Harrogate area and beyond.

We support a host of local charities, raising money by various means including biennial Kids Aloud concerts at Harrogate’s Royal Hall, pop-up charity cafes, an annual golf tournament and a wishing well in Harrogate’s Valley Gardens. But it’s not all about money. We focus on young people by working with local primary schools on Kids Aloud, organising an annual Technology Tournament for local secondary schools and by sending two local sixth formers on a week’s youth leadership course.

In a project lasting several years we’ve also installed internet provision in schools in a remote part of Nepal and in 2015 we raised over £10,000 to help recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake. Additionally we have made significant donations to ShelterBox and AquaBox over the years.

In 2023 we were left a legacy by a friend of Brigantes who understood our policy of “Making a Difference”. He wanted to ensure that we continued to have the ability to support local organisations which have a significant impact on the wellbeing of our community.

In accordance with his wishes a first tranche of £50,000 was made in 2024/25. We will be making another £50,000 available to local good causes later in the 2026/27 Rotary year, when we would welcome applications from organisations located in Harrogate and district.
