Our Golf Group enjoys its sport but believes that the ‘chat’ is as important as the golf.
We relish our successes and commiserate over our failures.
The successes are sufficient to tempt us back the following week and you’ll always find a ready welcome if you choose to join us.
About the Golf Group
Our Golf Group meets on a Friday morning at Spofforth Golf Course, one of the top pay-and-pay courses in the area. We normally play nine holes before retiring to the clubhouse for tea, coffee conversation. We would never class ourselves as great golfers (a par hole can be a cause for celebration) but we are all capable of stunning our partners with a great shot and living off it for the rest of the round.
There are those in Brigantes who play to a higher standard and who are members of local clubs. All are eligible to compete for the Ferret trophy which is contested annually at Alnmouth Golf Club in Northumberland.
Benefits of Joining
Fresh air, exercise, the joy of good conversation, the camaraderie, the friendships – these are the acknowledged benefits of golf. It may be ‘a good walk spoiled’; if so, it’s spoiled in the best possible way.
