About Us

Making a difference … it’s at the heart of what we do

Harrogate Brigantes are a group of like minded friends working together to help local and international communities and having fun along the way.

As Rotarians we are part of one of the largest humanitarian organisations in the world, with around 1.2 million members spread across 200 countries and geographical regions. Not only do Harrogate Brigantes work on projects in partnership with other clubs, but members can visit any Rotary club in the world.

Harrogate Brigantes are passionate about helping communities at home and abroad

  • We raised over £20,000 during Covid to support local charities and services
  • We raised over £5,000 in June 2022 to support Ukrainian refugees in our local community
  • We have installed IT suites in schools and launched a microloan scheme in the remote Panchamul Valley in Nepal, giving opportunities to local people and enabling them to help themselves
  • We support local organisations such as Carers’ Resource, Supporting Older People and Dementia Forward
  • We raise funds to buy Shelter Boxes to provide emergency shelter for disaster victims
  • We work with local schools to provide Technology Tournaments, leadership courses and environmental projects
  • Every two years we work with children from 14 local primary schools to put on a Kids Aloud concert at Harrogate’s historic Royal Hall
  • We work with local business sponsors to organise an annual charity golf day
  • We organise and fund an annual Remembrance Service at the local War Graves cemetery

And there is lots more … like our regular meetings at Harrogate’s Crown Hotel, our outings and visits, our walkingBook Club and golf groups
