Harrogate Brigantes Rotary 2024 Legacy Fund FAQs

Who will make the decisions?

A panel comprising leading members of the local community and Rotarians will consider all applications. We may ask you to come and talk to our Selection Group about your application. We may also seek further information by contacting you.

How long will it take until I get a decision on my application?

This will depend on the number of applications received and the further enquiries to be made. At a rough calculation we should hope to have reached our decisions in 6-10 weeks after the closing date. This means that successful applicants are unlikely to be able to purchase any capital items or commence works before September 24 2024.

I’m not in your area but the project will be delivering services in your area. Can I apply?

If you are not based in our area we may be able to provide funding but we will need to be sure you have relevant local partnerships and a good understanding of the area in which you will be working. We will prioritise applicants with a local management committee and a local presence and you will need to be able to demonstrate that the project is locally led.

What can I apply for?

We are seeking to support capital investments rather than recurrent organisational running costs.

Can I include VAT?

Yes. However where groups can reclaim VAT costs we may expect that the grant is either paid net of VAT or that any VAT subsequently reclaimed will be repayable to the fund as a condition of funding.

Do you have to be a registered charity to apply?

No. We can provide funding for community groups that are not registered as a charity and other types of not-for-profit organisation.

How much information do you need to give when completing the application form?

We want to know what the need is, how the grant will be spent to meet that need and how you will know if the need has been met. For larger grants we would like to know something about how you will measure the impact of your project, your experience of helping people and the people involved with your project.

We are a new group. Can we apply?

We would prefer it if you have been in existence and active in the community for at least six months before applying.
