Remembrance Service 10 November 2019 12.45pm

Each year, Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club arranges a Remembrance Service at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, Harrogate which has taken place for the past nineteen years. The service is always held on the same date as the official Remembrance Day. The focus is upon military personnel, the majority of which died in action and were buried in the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, most of them being Canadian, Australian and New Zealand airmen. There is 1017 military graves and it is one of the largest military cemeteries in the UK.

Many dignitaries attend the service, which include representatives of Australian and New Zealand High Commissions, Canadian representative, Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate together with the Member of Parliament for Harrogate and Knaresborough. Many other members of the armed services and other organisations are also present.

Harrogate Band play music at the service and for several years, schoolchildren from Rossett School have laid a red rose on every grave.
