Remembrance Service at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, Harrogate – 1.30pm Sunday 11 November 2018
Harrogate Brigantes Rotary Club arranges this service, with a focus upon military personnel, the majority of which died in action and were buried in the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, most of them being Canadian, Australian and New Zealand airmen. There are 1017 military graves. Many dignitaries attend the service, which include representatives from New Zealand High Commissions, Canadian Representative, Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate together with the Member of Parliament for Harrogate and Knaresborough. Other members of the Armed Forces and organisations are also present. Harrogate Band play music at the service and Ashville College school children lay a rose on every grave.
