I would think most of our members would see this presentation as a unique experience!
Michael’s early lifestyle involved travelling to his workplace to visit primary schools and other interesting challenges followed which included taking part in the London Marathon. He clearly, became frustrated with his mode of travel, the barrier being he could not drive a motor vehicle which restricted his activities. At the age of 62 he applied to take part Reality Television show ‘Undriveable’. He passed the Theory Test and moved on; climbing into a car with a tolerant lady driving instructor and no idea what to do!! There was intense driving and filming at the same time. The number of ‘takes’ by camera crews was unbelievable; 6 hours driving for a 2-minute clip on the ‘Undriveable’ show. Michael told us about his driving on curbs and pavements with the instructor almost in despair, which was supported by video footage.
On the day of the Driving Test he had to set off at 06:30 to the Centre and arrived with 2 minutes to spare – almost instant failure! The Test result was PASS and amazing. CONGRATULATIONS. One question at the end of his talk, “Have you had any accidents since the Test?” Michael, “Just a couple of scrapes.”
