On Monday 4th September, an improving early autumn day, the Leicester RC triumphed at the RIBI Rotary Club Golf Championship. Leicester President Richard Power - pictured presenting prizes - with an outstanding score of 40 points helped to push Chesterfield Scarsdale the winners last year into second place. The Final of the 31st running of the RIBI Golf Championship was held at The Leicestershire Golf Club. At the beginning of the year 84 teams from 16 Districts entered the District knockout stages and the winning Clubs went to the Final where the best two scores from three players counted for the Team Championship. The Leicester RC were the winners and in second place was Chesterfield Scarsdale RC were a close second. The Brigantes RC - Tony Doveston, Peter Wearmouth, Alan Hansfordcame fourth. Tony was second in the Singles Competition with 37 points.
Note. The “End Polio Now” campaign is the beneficiary of the surplus (£3,707) arising on the event going to Rotary Foundation together with matched funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will raise this to £11,122 for this worthy cause.
