Harrogate Homeless Project

The Rotary Club of Harrogate Brigantes has over the past 12 months raised over £3,000 on their behalf. The Club makes regular collections from our members for the Homeless Project on their behalf, of clothing and household items.

Harrogate Homeless Project is an independent charity that was founded by Harrogate Churches together in 1991, to try and alleviate the growing number of people sleeping ‘rough’ in the area.

They have a 16 bed direct access hostel with a day centre (Springboard) on Oxford Street.

Harrogate Homeless Project aims to provide multifaceted support, for homeless and vulnerably housed people, who are connected to the area and help them to move on to independent living.

It also provides 24-hour support to residents in the hostel all year-round. In addition, there is provision for 24-hour emergency intervention for ‘rough’ sleepers through their ‘No Second Night Out’ policy.

Although partly funded by statutory bodies, the project relies heavily upon the generosity of the local community, in order to provide the high level of support needed.
